The Swedish Red Cross and Peepoople agree on cooperation

The Swedish Red Cross and Peepoople have agreed to cooperate in the implementation of the Peepoo solution in emergencies. The Swedish Red Cross and Peepoople share the objective of saving lives and mitigating suffering in emergencies by rapidly providing access to hygienic and safe in home/shelter sanitation.

The aim of the cooperation is to minimise the risk of diarrhoeal diseases as a consequence of disasters, through rapid and widespread implementation of the Peepoople Humanitarian Response Model in projects up to 50 000 people during 3 months.

More than 250 million people are directly impacted by natural disasters each year. Sanitation- and water-related diseases cause significant deaths and sickness in emergencies. Diarrhoeal diseases alone contribute to up to 50% of all deaths in camp situations and more than 80% of these are children under two years old.
